The boroughs of Brussels: Art Nouveau and Hannon House

Saturday 29 June 2024

Marie and Edouard Hannon discovered Art Nouveau at the 1900 Paris Exhibition and asked their friend, architect Jules Brunfaut, to design a house that would bring together the complexity and beauty of the revolutionary artistic trend.

The House is the expression of Mrs. Hannon’s combined interest in botany and poetry, a flagship architectural building, and a portrait-house of the family.

The tour will continue with a guided walk along Avenue Brugmann to discover more flagship houses built in Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. We will learn about the urbanisation of these boroughs in the 19th century.
